Who Makes Up the PTO
PTO Officers
All PTO Board Members are expected to attend all General and Board meetings and are supportive of all PTO events and efforts. They are a great point of contact for the community about the happenings of the Brown Elementary School.
PTO Executive Officers
Our PTO is run by a team of caring and committed parents. They plan and facilitate events and fundraising to support our school.
Co-Presidents
Coordinate the over-all activities of the PTO, conduct monthly board meetings, conducts general meetings, delegate to and assist various officers and coordinators, and oversee School Council elections. Two-year commitment, ideally to be rotating terms.
Treasurer
Balances and maintains the PTO bank accounts, reviews budget for the PTO, and helps to establish the following year's budget. Two-year commitment.
Secretary
Records the minutes for both general and board PTO meetings, distributes minutes to board members, posts minutes on bulletin board by the lobby and on the website, maintains records and correspondences.
Communications
Collects information from board members and committee chairs for weekly updates to the PTO Facebook and instagram pages, website, communicates with school secretary the info for newsletter if any changes or updates, creates and maintains PTO events google calendar. Prints event signage as needed.
VPs of Volunteers & Community Events
Two positions. Generates and maintains lists of parent volunteers for PTO events, coordinates with committee chairs to assess volunteer needs. Assists with execution of community events and teacher appreciation events.
VPs of Fundraising
Two positions. Manages events and opportunities to raise money to support PTO efforts, assists committees as needed with fundraising efforts, organizes restaurant nights, brings forward new ideas to the board for fundraising, evaluates previous efforts to determine whether or not to continue/repeat.
Brown School Principal
Provides support to the presidents, serves as a liaison to the Brown School community, Natick Public Schools & Natick community.
Teacher Representative
Provides support to the presidents, serves as a liaison to the Brown school staff and teachers.
PTO Representatives to Natick Organizations.
The PTO aims to stay connected with district-wide educational organizations by maintaining open lines of communication with all relevant Natick Organizations.
Cultural Arts Committee
Brown has two parent representatives on the Cultural Arts Committee. These parents attend monthly meetings, report back information to the PTO as necessary, and bring related issues to Cultural Arts Committee meetings, as needed. The primary goal is to expose the Brown Community to authors, artists and performers through performances and exhibits at our school. This provides many students with opportunities they may not otherwise have. Liaisons schedule and preview artists and performers and work with the other school representatives regarding budget concerns.
Two liaison positions available. Liaisons attend the scheduled meetings, reports back information obtained to the PTO's monthly meeting, and bring related issues gathered from PTO meetings to PCC, as needed.
