Cultural Arts
The Brown PTO works with the teachers and administration each year to identify and schedule educational enrichment programs to come in and deliver programming to students at school, with each grade level scheduling their own events plus at least one all-school assembly per year. Cultural Arts Programs are a large part of the PTO budget, with a small portion reimbursed by grants most years, if possible. The programs are not just performing arts but also include science and author presentations. If you have an idea for a performance, author, or presentation you’d like to see at the school, you can always propose it to a teacher or administrator and they can work with the PTO to see if it’s possible to include in this year’s budget!
Previously sponsored programs have included:
Discovery Museum’s Traveling Scientist presentation for all grades
Pumpernickel Puppets for Kindergarten
Nutcracker ballet presentation and mini-performance for 1st graders
Wingmasters: Birds of Prey visit for 2nd graders
Paul Revere house historical presentation for 3rd graders
4th grade “Geodome” visit and presentation
School-wide visits have also included visits by:
Ball in the House (a Capella group)
Poet Ted Scheu
llustrator John Stevens Gurney
Celtic Bells, a family of Irish music performers.
Each program makes a unique contribution to our children's education and are approved by teachers and administrators to ensure that they complement the curriculum and contribute in a positive way to Brown school. Thank you for your support that allows us to fund these programs!
